5 Things You’ve Gotta Do Before Tacoma’s Summer Ends!

summer headerAre You Making the Most out of the AWESOME Tacoma Summer We’re Having?

If not, you have a little over a month to make that right. Here’s my list of five things you MUST do before this gorgeous northwest summer ends!

nachos1. Head down to Matador and get some Texas Sized Nachos & a Scratch Margarita on the patio!
That patio is deliciously hot, in one of the most bustling strips downtown. Grab your sunglasses and your bestie and get yourself some of the most delicous Nachos north of the border for only $5 on Happy Hour. The delicious scratch margarita (with salt of course!) is a recent discovery for me. Not to sweet, and tastes like pure summer.

kayak2. Rent a kayak at Owen Beach.
OK, OK. This is probably more for me than for you guys. I’ve always wanted to do this! Why don’t I do this? Prices range from $14 for one hour up to $50 to just keep the kayak for the whole day during the week (prices are slightly higher on the weekends). All you need is your money and a driver’s license to leave as your deposit- they even give you a life jacket! GO!!

ice_cream_social3. Go Get Some Ice Cream at Ice Cream Social
“Wait. WHAT!? You haven’t been to Ice Cream Social yet!?” <– I got so sick of hearing this I finally got in there last week and had an ice cream cone and… well friends… it was pretty great. Very minimal decor, but the Ice Cream is super good, and I LOVE a freshly made waffle cone! Go get some Ice Cream! It’s hot out!

blueberry_park4. Pick Some Blueberries at Charlotte’s Blueberry Park
This 20 acre park in South Tacoma is home to
several thousand blueberry bushes that can be picked July through September each year. It’s a great activity to do with a group and kids love it. Take your blueberries home and make the greatest blueberry crisp the world has ever known. And give me some.

Johnny's_dock5. Fancy Brunch on the Water

A lazy brunch on Commencement Bay is a true summer treat. I recommend the Sunday Brunch at CI Shenanigans on Ruston Way for fancy brunch. Or hit the deck for Saturday/Sunday Breakfast at Johnny’s Dock on the Thea Foss Waterway. Sip your coffee, eat your omelette, and watch the boats go by and your troubles melt away!

 Have a Great Summer, Tacoma!
