Ok, Ok. Marilyn Strickland is the Mayor of Tacoma. And I think she’s a pretty great Mayor, actually. But I’M the Mayor on Foursquare of some awesome local places, and I thought I’d talk about them here today! For those of you who are not familiar with FourSquare, it’s an app that lets you “check in” to your favorite restaurants, bars, or businesses and leave tips. If you’re the person that checks in most often, you become the Mayor. Obviously this is a huge responsibility and I take it very seriously.
1. Pacific Grill 1502 Pacific Avenue

I’ve fought hard to keep this mayorship at this incredibly popular place that is(in my opinion) Tacoma’s best restaurant. It has everything you need for a great night out. Incredible food, flattering lighting, well trained staff, and great drinks. Speaking of drinks, Pacific Grill is a double whammy- because in addition to being a great restaurant they also have a hoppin’ bar and easily the BEST Happy Hour in Tacoma. This has been confirmed by multiple sources. The Weekly Volcano even had their launch party for their amazing new Tacoma Happy Hour APP at Pacific Grill. My favorite part about Pacific Grill Happy Hour is that there are 5 pages of bar food. The majority of those items are 50% off all the time. I go with my friends all the time, but I also go alone and just read a book.
2. Metronome Coffee 3518 6th Avenue

When it comes to coffee, Tacoma is an AMAZING place to live. I could go on forever about all the great coffee places around town including Amocat Cafe, Caffe Dei, Bluebeard Coffee Roasters, and Valhalla– but I’m only Mayor of one place: Metronome. Located between my home in the Lincoln District and the Windermere Professional Partners office I work out of on South 19th Street, Metronome is perfectly placed for my daily coffee. They have friendly baristas, a generous every 10th coffee is free policy, great coffee, and fancy technological benefits like wireless printing and the ability to request songs from your iPhone. Also, they let me keep my Realtor Brochures on the counter, so totally love them. This is another very competitive Foursquare Mayorship that I am always on the verge of losing to the real regulars- UPS college students.
